How to Deal With Your Past? EFT - Part 2

EFT Application

Here is the usual process of EFT's application. Once you start tapping the points, say the statement that is written next to it. Just to give an example, statements refer to a headache someone might experience. It can be applied to any kind of mental or physical pain as a cure, as long as the subconscious mind is the correct source of it.

Decide the emotion's intensity level by giving a number between 1 and 10.

Karate Chop Point: Even though I have this painful(annoying, disturbing, etc.) headache, I deeply and completely accept myself. (x10)

Top of Head: This painful headache. (x10)

Eyebrow: This painful headache. (x10)

Side of Eye: This painful headache. (x10)

Under Eye: This painful headache. (x10)

Under Nose: This painful headache. (x10)

Under Lip: This painful headache. (x10)

Collarbone: This painful headache. (x10)

Under Arm: This painful headache. (x10)

Decide the current level of intensity. If it is not 0, repeat the whole process.

Statements' structures don't have any obligations. If you prefer to state "I have a painful headache" or "My head hurts" instead of "This painful headache"; it works as well. It is even possible to combine the statements and use them once or twice for every tapping point. The main purpose of the statements is being an assistant to subconscious mind to put the traumatic emotions on the surface.

Reverse Psychology

As I mentioned in the previous article, for trauma's(depression, fear, pain, etc.) to be treated, traumatic feeling has to be activated. Which means you must be feeling the emotion at some level. However, just like in acting, forcing the emotion to pop up might actually cause it to be more suppressed. Actors train for weeks, sometimes for months before going up to the stage. Almost half of the EFT clients stuck on the effect of reverse psychology which impedes them to trigger the emotion when they force it.

Triggering the Emotion

If reverse psychology ruins your possible freedom, here are some other ways to try.

Eye Movements

Did you know where you look at, could reveal what your mind is up to. Memories are most likely to linked to the eyes' positions. Some components of traumas might be connected to lower left corner while another component is stuck to the upper right corner, as an example. Scanning your eye positions is a way of sensing the trauma during the EFT process. It is worth to try.

At the Moment

Dealing with the trauma at the moment, when naturally triggered is obviously the best way to deal with it. But fears and intense depression levels might make things impossible to figure out with respect. At some level of depression's or any other disease's deteriorating pain could force individuals to forget the whole process and leave them with a disaster. If you are willing to do it, it is probably the fastest way to deal with it.

When doctors work with people who has fear of cats or like I mentioned in the previous article, fear of water; they usually bring a cat near to the client to unleash the emotions step by step which gives them the opportunity of curing it in only one session.

Imagination

A distinctive trait does not exist when it comes to subconscious mind about concreteness and discreteness. As a result, imagination and reality have the same perception. By imagining the certain situation or the condition that is linked with the emotion, intensity level could be increased. It is better to combine it with the statements, in my opinion.

Darkness

Try the whole EFT process in the darkness with closed eyes. Darkness can help us during the process of memory recollection. In the same way, light might be a distraction during EFT's application. If you have a fear of darkness at the moment, well, start by eliminating it first ( ;

Conflicting Emotion

I remember the people behind the stage, in front of a mirror, yelling at themselves "You are amazing", "I am not afraid" or "I am good enough". It does not help that much, does it? When we intend to shift our state by forcing the subconscious mind to the opposite direction, it tends to respond with pain which is even worse than the previous circumstance. Therefore, conflicting emotions could be used in order to push the trauma to the surface and overcoming with EFT.

First two articles was about EFT's general application. In the third one, I am going to introduce some ways to decide the particular COMPONENTS of trauma. In order that we can overcome the every appalling past experience, dealing with each component is a necessity.
