How to Increase Willpower? The Willpower Instinct

Right now it feels like an overly straightforward idea. However, everything feels straightforwardly once they are visualized non-detailed. It seems like working on several projects for hours could be as easy as pie, as long as they are activities that are done passionately. But, every time, after planning the task, the completion part tends to be put aside. Because willpower works similar to a battery. It is finite, it is depleted.

Kelly McGonigal published her book, The Willpower Instinct, in December, 2011. The book is mainly about becoming more productive and focused by learning how to utilize and restore the willpower. Here three ways are ensured that are proven for willpower's enhancement.

Priorities

Willpower is a finite sourced battery as mentioned. Since it has to be utilized resourcefully, starting the day with unnecessary mails on computer or time wasting instagram posts does not sound very intellectual. In order for prioritized works to be innovative and qualified, at the beginning of the day, putting them first seems much more productive and clever. Turning this idea into a habit will make the process much easier in the long run.

Sleep

It is apparently a cliche, however, it is never taken seriously. Sleep is complicated topic, it is a physical human need that has to be satisfied. Being dispossessed of sleep has likely features in the brain with being slightly intoxicated. In fact, it is renowned that a drunk person is not in the best state to make logical decisions.

Meditation

It is a mental medicine, so to speak. Meditation is proven to increase the amount of grey matter in the prefrontal cortex which is the part responsible for intellectual thinking and decision making. It increases the ability of focus and productivity.

Hope that was helpful!
