7 Habits of Highly Effective People - Part:1

It is bought more than 25 millions worldwide since it was first published in 1989. Stephen R. Covey, undoubtedly, created one of the most influential self-help books of all times. This article will try explain the main ideas of the book by giving accurate examples in each title. Enjoy!

Be Proactive

Assume a product(Book, Computer, T-Shirt, etc.) is published and brings a quite spectacular income. Even only by selling this product, it is possible to stop working and travel the world. However, the government, then, increases the taxes for the pieces of the product for some reason with some excuse and, now, product becomes way less beneficial than it ever was. How would the producer react to that?

He/She would not be happier, evidently. But reacting negatively to an uncontrollable action is quite unintellectual. Instead focusing on what can be controlled would be way more like a powerful attitude to pursue which called being proactive instead of reactive.

Stephen R. Covey does not recommend ignoring negative emotional responses, he only provides a realistic point of view that can manage a greater outcome.

Begin with the End in Mind

If people are asked the question "What would you recommend to the person in your conditions?", the answers probably would not have any integrity with what they intend to act upon on a daily basis.

This question leads to other questions which bring up paths to follow. Is what you are doing, in integrity with how you want to be remembered? What would you say about yourself if you were looking at your body in your own funeral?

Put First Things First

There are hundreds of questionnaires done all over the world about the question "How people think what they should spend their time with?". Just like the previous point people tend to fail being integrity with their thoughts.

Most people usually point out that they would prefer working on their passion instead of playing video games or they choice family over work in their words which is usually disposed to be unrealistic.

Second and third parts will cover the remaining four habits. Hope this was helpful!
